Artist Profile
for me, art is a resonance chamber
I work with fragile materials.
I am interested in the moment
when a fragment becomes powerful.
Light is not an effect, but substance.
My works are places of condensation –
they arise from silence,
repetition and physical labour.

BIO
Anne Elisia Kempmann artist, born in 1957
Anne Elysia Kempmann lives and works in Aachen (Germany) and Greece, specifically on the Greek island of Samos and in Attica, Porto Rafti.
Part-time studies at Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences under Prof. Thomas Egelhaut shaped her material-oriented approach. There she began her experimental work with eggshells – initially in small formats, later in monumental dimensions.
Early works were created in the context of ceramic studies and a scholarship abroad in Ghana. Today, her work focuses on large-format eggshell reliefs, which are presented internationally in private and public contexts.
